Our PIR sensor module is easy to setup and use. It can form the basis for a simple alarm system or used to turn on a security light if motion is detected. The range of operation can be adjusted from approximately 2 to 10 metres. The module has a built in timer which can be adjusted from about 3 seconds to greater than 20 minutes. This makes it simple to easily create a project which turns on a light for a set period of time when motion is detected by connecting the output to one of our Mosfet Modules to power the light. Alternatively the output which is normally 0 volts and rises to 3.3 volts when motion has been detected could be directly interfaced to an Arduino or similar to form part of a more complex system.
The detection angle is approximately 90 degrees. For a narrower detection field use opaque insulation tape to block off some of the sensor.
There are 2 modes of operation.
Mode 1: (Default) After movement is detected, the output will stay on for the period defined by the delay setting only. Any motion detected whilst the output is on will be ignored.
Mode 2: After detecting motion, the output will continue to be re-triggered if more motion is detected. The output will remain on for the time defined by the delay setting after the last motion is detected.
