This module detects the level of moisture in soil such as a flowerpot and can be used as the basis for an automatic watering system. Alternatively it can be used as a water detection device. I.e. determining when water in a container reaches a certain level. The unit has both analogue and digital outputs. The analogue output voltage varies with the level of moisture, whilst the digital output is normally High (equal to the supply voltage) or Low (about 0V). This output can be connected to an Arduino and easily used to trigger an action such as opening a solenoid valve or turning on a pump or simply a warning that there is water about. The sensitivity of the digital output can be adjusted to suit your requirements.
The unit can operate on 3.3 or 5 volts and has a power indicator LED and an output status LED. It is supplied with connecting cables and a sensor.
