This metal proximity switch has a wide operating voltage from 6 to 30 volts DC. The sensor operates using inductance to detect the presence of metal nearby. The minimum detection distance of 4mm makes it ideal for a sensing a garage door in a security system. With a frequency response of 500Hz, the unit can also sense fast passing metal such as on rotating shafts etc. The output has a capacity of 300mA enabling it drive relays etc directly. It has a built in LED which turns on when metal is detected. The sensor is sealed with epoxy resin making it suitable for operating in damp conditions.
