Tudor - Jacobean - Medieval furniture for your dolls house or castle 1-12 scale

The tudor period in English history begins in 1485, and continues through the reign of King Henry VIII
and ends with the crowning of Queen Elizabeth I in 1558.
During this time we saw many interesting developements in home Tudor furniture and decoration.

Early Tudor - Medieval furniture

Poor people had very little furniture and even the wealthy had only the minimum amount for neccessity
such as beds to sleep on and table and chairs - benches for eating.
Chairs were kept for the house owner, whilst there guests were offered stools and if they were lucky a cushion.
Although the tudors did not have lots of furniture they did like to decorate there walls and floors
with tapestries, carpets, embroidery and fabrics.
The Tudor period was known for its heavy furniture with carved panels which the rich could afford.
However the poor commonly had to make do with benches and pallets often sleeping on the settles at night
which were also used storing bedding during the day.
Chests were the main way to store clothes keeping them clean, and also for travelling with.
Around the time of King Henry Tudor furniture construction methods improved
with more advanced joinery techniques putting an end to the nail and plank construction

Which ever part of your dolls house you are dressing you will find something in 1/12th scale here for you.
